"This cat purrs on Panther Purple" was a popular caption when Arctic got into the distribution of their own brand of oil for their cats in the early 70's. This "CAT", that's me, DON ELIAS got hooked on "Snowcats" in 1969 with the purchase in late spring of a one season veteran, a 297 JLO Panther. I had nearly bought another "yellow" member of the species, but became quickly educated that you didn't have to kneel to ride a machine because it was unstable. With Artic's slide rail suspension and low center of gravity, you could actually sit on it and control the ride, rather than balancing using body english.
